We live in our heads: analyzing, planning, bracing for what might come. Over time, this shows up physically: a stiff upper back, a closed chest, a disconnect between what we think and what we feel.
In this 90-minute mini-retreat, we explore exactly that disconnect, and what it takes to bridge it. Through a simple yoga practice (all you need is a towel and a couple of books), we'll open the upper back and the space around the heart: the area that often bears the weight of what we're guarding against.
But we won't stop there.
Because tension doesn't just live in the body — it carries a message. Instead of fighting or numbing what we feel, we'll turn toward it. Through journaling and meditation, we'll ask the tension itself: what are you trying to tell me? What wisdom is hidden inside the tightness, the holding, the guarding?
Together this is where the real shift happens. When we stop trying to fix the tension — and start listening to it — it becomes a doorway. Not an obstacle, but an invitation back to something deeper than thought, deeper even than the body: the remembrance of who you truly are.
